FROZEN FRUIT: Apples

There's no secret that at CFPA we *love* apples! Not only because Washington State grows a bounty of the tree fruit, but because it can be used in so many ways in the meals and dishes that you prepare.

And just like berries and other tree fruit, there are many delicious dishes you can prepare from frozen apples. That's right!  No need to wait for apple freshness from your garden, or settle for store apples that came from you-don't-know-where.

FROZEN FRUIT: Tree Fruit

Today's posts focuses on fruit other than apples (we'll get to those later). Peaches, plums, and rhubarb. "Rhubarb?" No, we know that rhubarb isn't a tree fruit. But here's the thing: rhubarb is easy to freeze and creates lots of tasteful duets with other fruit flavors. Older generations may remember munching it raw with a little salt, but many of us first encountered it paired with strawberries in the popular pie.

FROZEN FRUIT: Berries

Remember back when we talked about Quick Ways to Preserve the Harvest by Freezing? While the frost is still indicating a certain chill outside, and the garden and orchards are beginning to awaken, is the perfect time to remind yourself why you have all that frozen deliciousness lurking in your frozen larder.

Here are some great recipes we found that work well using frozen produce - specifically berries. (more to come soon!)
